....outfit forward to a new era following their relegation from the top flight. The Bedfordhsire`s greatly respected chairman Ian Chesshum, confirmed to Pitchero NonLeague that, after much hard work behind the scenes, a mandate is very much in place to take the club forward to address the challenges of the future and, as a result, has announced the appointment of a former Langford player to its hot-seat with immediate effect - and one who scored goals at whatever level he played at in an illustrious non-League career. Former Cambridge City, Histon, Baldock Town, Barton Rovers, St Neots Town and Stotfold striker Wes Byrne, more recently assistant-manager at Baldock Letchworth FC of the Herts County League, has landed the number one position at Langford. Chesshum said: “We are delighted to welcome Wes, who will be assisted in his managerial duties by Craig Abbiss, previously with Hitchin Town for many years running their academy side.
“With the infusion of youth now seemingly the best method of taking clubs forward, Langford will be running an under-17 academy side themselves in the Ridgeons League, with these fixtures taking place on a Thursday night.” The reserve team at Langford will continue to be run by David Elkins in the SSML Reserve section.
Chesshum, meanwhile, wished to express his thanks to Blue Square Bet Premier play-off runners-up Luton Town for agreeing a pre-season friendly at Forde Park on Saturday, 16th July – a game that will be looked forward to with much anticipation.
