Canvey Island first-team manager Glen Alzapiedi has left the Ryman League Premier Division club by mutual consent.

Glen Alzapeidi

Alzapeidi initially joined the club ahead of the 2010/11 season as a coach, and was promoted to manager in January 2012 where he went on to lead The Gulls to the Essex Senior Cup.

However, after discussions between Alzapeidi and the board, it was decided that a change of direction ahead of the new season would be a good move for all parties concerned.

A statement from the club reads: “We would like to thank Glen for the contributions he has made to Canvey Island FC over the past two years, and wish him all the very best for the future.

“The coaching team of Danny Curran, John Brandon, Laurie Carter and Stacey Shave will continue to train the players, under the guidance of director of football John Batch, until a new manager has been appointed.”
