Evo-Stik League South Premier club Gosport Borough have announced the appointment of Mick Catlin as their new manager.
Catlin returns to the club having previously left in January of this year and will replace Alex Pike, who left last Monday afternoon.
Catlin has had other previous spells at Privett Park as assistant-manager to both Pike and John Robson and is also a former player.
He has also been in charge at Andover, Wick, Fleet Town and Chichester City.
Club chairman Iain Sellstrom revealed there had been considerable interest in the job but that Catlin was the obvious choice. He said: “There were fourteen applications for the position, including some very interesting ones. But Mick knows the club, is under no illusions as to what he has to work with, has in depth football knowledge and contacts. We decided he was the right fit for us.
“He knows the club, knows the people and players involved and given our circumstances at present, this was always an advantage. I look forward to working with him.”
Catlin has yet to announce who will comprise his backroom team and is likely to announce this in the near future.
He is expected to take training at Privett Park this evening and will take charge of the team in Saturday’s match.
