.....reinstatement of manager Simon Daws.
Teare said: “During the summer when we reflected on the performance of the club, it was decided it hadn’t progressed in the manner in which the committee had hoped.
“A decision by the committee was made at this time to relieve Simon Daws of his duties as Holwell Sports’ manager.
“However, after some reflection and taking into account the promising results during the second half of the season, it was decided to allow him to start this season in the hope that this progression would continue.
“But this season the statistics don’t lie. The club currently lies fifth from bottom of the EMCL, and have exited both the FA Cup and FA Vase at the first stage. These factors, coupled with the fact that attendance levels are at an almost all-time low since my involvement at the club began, have obviously impacted on the club financially.
“A decision was made by some committee members to relieve Daws of his duties after the Greenwood Meadows fixture last week. The following day an agreement was put in place with a caretaker manager to take control of the team for the time being.
“However, it soon became apparent that some members of the committee were questioning their own decision.
“There was also pressure from some of the Holwell players not wanting to accept this decision either and they were refusing to play last Saturday’s match.
“As soon as I became aware of this and it became apparent that the club were considering reinstating Daws, I felt that my position within the club had become untenable. I immediately informed the committee of my decision to step down from my position within the club. Given all the time and effort I have invested in the club, it goes without saying that I wish the club all the best in the future.”
