Eyre had agreed to join Blue Square Bet South side Chelmsford City, but has now done a U-turn and will re-join Bishop’s Stortford for their first ever season in the Conference North.
Eyre had had three spells at Stortford and spent much of last season at
Chapman was hoping to bring in the former St Albans City custodian after losing both Elliott Justham and James Hasell.
The Harlow boss spoke to Eyre this week, but the stopper has decided to return to Woodside Park, despite the incredible amount of travelling they will endure next term.
“Nicky had left Chelmsford but he has already signed for Bishop’s Stortford,” explained Chapman.
Hawks are also giving a trial to ex-Ware, Cheshunt and Hertford Town stopper Ashley Harris, who was released by Harlow last season.
It is unlikely winger Loui Riddle will return next season, Chapman revealed.
He suffered a career-threatening double leg fracture when playing for Harlow at Maldon & Tiptree last season.
