Runcorn Town have announced they will have a charity partnership CANSupport ahead of the 2017/18 Hallmark Security League season writes Tom Feaheny.
CANsupport is a cancer support fundraising group established by volunteers at the Delamere Centre, based at Halton Hospital in Runcorn.
Alan Bennett, was delighted to see the charity partnership set-up after he played a role in it happening.
“I visited the centre recently and saw the facilities and the wonderful work the volunteers do first hand. We all know someone or family affected by cancer and the treatment and kindness shown there was first class.
“Hopefully we as a club can help them to raise some funds towards the £30.000 a year that they need just to survive, as well as raising awareness for a charity that offer services which many people would assume is offered by the National Health Service.”
Fans of the club are being encouraged to help raise awareness and funds throughout the season as well as endorsing the valued work carried out by the group.
Bucket collections will be held at various games throughout the season, with the club also prominently featuring the charity on the club website and in the matchday programme.
