Despite a man of the match performance on New Year's Day which secured a win for the Blues at Prescot Cables, Jones struggled to hold down a regular first-team place and manager Neil Young confirmed last month that the defender had been given permission to speak to other clubs.
The 24-year-old tough-tackling full-back, who is Young's cousin, moved to the Exacta Stadium last summer after four seasons with Cammell Laird and made 14 (+2) Evostik League North appearances.
A former Everton and Tranmere Rovers youth, Jones is the fourth signing of the summer for Lakesiders' boss Colin Caton, who has already secured the services of Lee Hunt from Prestatyn, Steff Edwards (Aberystwyth Town) and Michael Byron (Northwich Victoria).
