Clowes Sends Heler Out on Loan

....month’s loan to NPL First Division South neighbours Kidsgrove Athletic when he completes his three-match ban on Saturday.

Heler has been suspended for the start of the season and is available after the visit of Stocksbridge Park Steels.

But the 28-year-old will head for Kidsgrove after being told by Rangers boss Greg Clowes he needs to up his fitness levels.

The wide man’s job as a farmer has prevented him from training with the Rangers squad and Clowes believes it will take time to get him ready.

He said: “Peter is nowhere near fit. Until that changes, he’s not going to be available for selection and I have told him that.”

Another winger a way off a Rangers return is Jon Sheldon, who underwent a knee operation last month but is starting the road to recovery.

Sheldon is back in light training and will take part in another session tonight, as he’s eased back in but it’s only the first step to playing again.

Contracted player Sean Kinsella also has the plaster off his broken ankle on Friday and will start his rehabilation at his local swimming pool.

Clowes said: “It’s not ahead of schedule with Jon, as he’s been doing his bike work to build up the muscles around his knee.

“What he’s got to do now is put a bit more weight on it, so he will be doing that slowly but surely.

“We don’t want to push him too hard because, when he comes back, I want him to be right.

“When we get Jon and Sean Kinsella back, it will be like having two brand new players.

“It will be great to have them two back available for selection, but it’s not just around the corner.”
