.....moved to his FIFTH club of the season - Causeway United.

The 27-year-old striker scored the first goal for the Baker Joiner Midland Alliance club in their 2-1 win over Ellesmere Rangers.

Gardner rejoined Causeway - he played for them in the 2009/10 season - after failing to command a place in the Gresley team in the same division.

Apart from having two spells with the Greenbacks, he has also appeared for Coalville Town and Nuneaton Griff this season.

The Midland Alliance `golden boot` winner in 2009/10, Gardner was allowed to leave The Oval by manager Steve Farmer who could not guarantee him regular football.

But he has still made himself available for a Greenbacks recall. "Before he left he told Steve to keep his Southern League registration in case he is needed later in the season for the play-offs," said club secretary Graham Bloxham.
