Confidence the Key for Ducks
Tony Joyce

....is the key to turn around his side’s recent bad run of results.

The Ducks have not won in four matches and conceded late last Saturday in a 2-1 loss to Oxhey Jets.

“We started brightly in the first 20 minutes but after that we let them dictate the game.

“In the second half it was 1-1 and we pushed forward.”

But Joyce said he does not regret pushing his side forward because he was not being happy to settle for the draw.

“We could have looked at it and decided we were happy with a draw but that wasn’t the case.

“They scored with one of their only chances in the second-half.

“Perhaps we can feel a little hard done by but in all honesty we played poorly.

“Of course a point is better than nothing, but we should have been better than them, played better and got the three points.

“A few weeks ago we were playing really well and this wouldn’t have happened.

“We need to get the confidence back to where we were before.

“We have a week and a half off now so we’ll get the lads in a couple of times and hopefully that confidence will return.”

Joyce said he is still aiming to finish inside the top six.

“We finished sixth last year and are currently sitting in eight. The aim of the season was to do better than we did last year. That is still the target.

“I have a better squad than I did last year.

“We may have another couple of faces in soon.

“We’ve put in a couple of seven-day approaches and are waiting to see what happens there.”
