Corbett Sports New Welsh Premier Sponsor

...sports betting and gaming company Corbett Sports, and will therefore be retitled The Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League.

The initial agreement will run for a period of three seasons.

In welcoming the agreement Welsh Premier secretary, John Deakin said: "I am absolutely delighted that the league will be sponsored by a prestigious and well established company like Corbett's, with whom we have been keen to get involved with for some time. Corbett Sports has a strong presence in various parts of Wales with over sixty shops, and we will do everything possible to assist the Company to enhance its profile throughout the Principality and beyond.

“I am sure that our member clubs will be delighted with this news, and I am confident that they will cement relationships with outlets in their locality, as was the case with our previous sponsor, to maximise the benefits for both parties.

“On a personal note, I look forward to working with Corbett's, who I am sure will assist the league and its clubs to build on the progress that has been made over the past nineteen seasons and further enhance the Competition's profile throughout Wales and in Europe."

Michael Corbett, managing director of Corbett Sports, said: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support the Welsh Premier League and the member clubs across Wales.

“Our company was founded in Flintshire in 1947 by my Grandfather, and we wanted to mark our 65th anniversary in 2012 by partnering with a truly national competition. Having spent my childhood watching local football across North Wales, a passion for sport has run through the Corbett family for decades and we believe in supporting Welsh football from the grassroots up. The League has vastly improved in recent years and with the help of Corbett Sports long term investment, we believe the competition can continue to grow in stature and quality.”

Corbett Bookmakers is a family owned company founded in 1947 by William T Corbett. The sports betting company with headquarters in North Wales has grown to over sixty independent betting shops in England and Wales with a growing online sports betting service at www.corbettsports.com.

The gaming firm has a long-standing record of supporting grass roots sports with highlights seeing the firm as partners of the Evo-Stik League, FC United of Manchester over recent years and supporter of horse racing at Chester, Haydock, Ludlow and Bangor-on-Dee racecourses.
