....Division club Concord Rangers’ new look management team.
The 30-year-old has been given a player-coach role at the Beachboys, and will team up with recently appointed assistant-manager Kenny Brown and first-team boss Danny Cowley.
“I did a bit of coaching last year and I have done my coaching badges so this was a natural move for me,” said Nicky Cowley.
“So I’m already pretty competent and I’m looking forward to the additional responsibility.” Nicky’s season was dogged by injury in 2011/12, but he still managed to play in his customary central midfield role for the Beachboys for most of their Ryman Premier campaign.
He admits that he’d love to move into management one day, but says he has no plans to hang up his boots just yet.
He said: “The important thing for me is to just keep playing for as long as I can.
“I’m still enjoying my football so I’ll be looking to balance both roles and do them well. It won’t be easy but I’m confident I can make it work.”
Danny Cowley is often a fiery figure on the touchline and has admitted his will to win can make him a demanding person to work with.
But Nicky says he has no concerns about working more closely his brother at the club.
“We have the same views on football and how it should be played so that is a good starting point,” said Nicky.
“And being Dan’s brother, I understand his strengths and weaknesses well and that makes it easy to bounce off each other.
“We also work together at the same school (FitzWimarc) and we’ve got the type of relationship which lets us be totally honest with each other.
“We are also 100 per cent loyal to each other and I think that will benefit the club a lot.”
