Cray Wanderers moved to the top of the Bostik League South table following a stunning 9-1 hammering of third-bottom Ashford United at Hayes Lane.

In front of a very cold crowd of 239, it was all-over bar the shouting by half-time with Cray leading 5-0.

Recent signing Charlie Macdonald, who was signed by the man in the opposition dug-out, Gary Alexander, when managing Greenwich Borough, gave the hosts an early 3rd minute lead.

Alexander, who is to move up from assistant boss to manager next season, saw Macdonald bag a second in the 22nd minute after defender Mitchell Nelson had made it 2-0 just 5 minutes earlier.

Jay Leader after 24 minutes and Brandon Scott on 36 minutes were the others on target to make it a first half nap hand.

Barney Williams added a sixth in the 54th minute and sub Ralique Lawrence made it 7-0 just 2 minutes later.

Matt Day netted a consolation for the Nuts & Bolts on the hour-mark, only for Ben Mundele on 72 minutes and Lawrence again 4 minutes later to make the final score 9-1.

Thamesmead Town added to Guernsey`s away woes by winning 5-0 at Princes Park.

Mid-table Mead took a 15th minute lead through Laurent Mendy.

And then early sub Paul Vines on 37 minutes and Scott Kinch 5 minutes later made it 3-0 by the half-time break.

Mendy`s second came on 66 minutes and Joe Denny completed the scoring in stoppage time.
