....location of the pitch which allows drainage that most clubs can only dream of, but the biggest factor is the tireless efforts of the groundsman keeping the playing surface in tip top condition.

On the day, however, visitors Warminster Town may have preferred to have joined the other teams who were forced to take a day off!

The home side coasted to a 7-1 win to take them into fifth place in Division One. But who are Cribbs Friends Life?

They were founded in London in 1958 as 'Sun Life Assurance'. The Bristol team was established in 1976 when Sun Life first relocated to Bristol. Initially, the club ran two teams, participating in the Bristol & Avon League, playing at Dundridge Farm. However, when the Cribbs Causeway ground was opened in 1978, the first-team were promoted straight to the Avon Premier Combination League where they stayed for twenty years until they eventually won promotion to the County League in 1999/00.

The club changed from AXA FC to its new name of Cribbs Friends Life ready for the 2011/12 season.

Today the club runs four Saturday sides, spread across the Western League, Bristol Premier Combination League and the Bristol & District League, one Sunday side in the Bristol Regional League, a Veterans side and an under-18 team.

All Cribbs Friends Life teams play at their Cribbs Causeway base – Friends Life Sports Ground.

Four top quality football pitches are accompanied by excellent floodlit Astroturf training facilities and the main pitch is widely regarded as one of the best playing surfaces in the West Country.
