Crows Achieve `Treble`
Kaan Fehmi

.....Park on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon to lift the Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Cup.

Kaan Fehmi added to his impressive goal tally with both goals as the Crows completed a `treble` against St Margaretsbury.

The Crows’ leading marksman made it forty for the season at as his team ran out worthy winners.

And the day could have been even sweeter for Fehmi, but he spurned the chance to complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

Paul Attfield’s side had already won the Premier Division title and the South Midlands Senior Floodlit Cup, and they will be aiming to continue their success when they step up to either the Evo-Stik League Southern or Ryman League next season.

Royston made the perfect start to proceedings when Fehmi sent a free-kick past Ashley Harris with only 4 minutes played, and they never looked back.

St Margaretsbury did enjoy a couple of spells of pressure, but they failed to really test Will Norris in the Royston goal.

Things got a bit heated from time to time, with a couple of instances of argy-bargy on the pitch and some choice words aimed at the officials from the St Margaretsbury dug-out, but a lid was kept on it and the Crows’ football did the talking.

One such incident came shortly after Royston had taken the lead, when Jason Beck earned a yellow card for a robust challenge on Adam Lawton.

Cries of "horrendous" and "disgrace" came from the Saints’ management team, and Royston boss Attfield elected to substitute Beck moments later, just in case the centre half lost his composure.

The introduction of Joe Clemo did not affect Royston’s rhythm, and they could have been further ahead at the break had Fehmi’s passing been more accurate in a couple of situations and had the referee spotted a blatant handball in the box by Tom Scriven.

The Crows’ second goal eventually came 10 minutes after the interval when the brave Tom Malins was flattened by keeper Harris and Fehmi rolled the ball into the empty net.

Malins then hit the woodwork and Fehmi missed from the spot having been upended by Davey Edmee, but the damage had already been done and a deserved win secured.
