Manager Perry Briggs moved quickly to appoint Cuggy when his previous assistant decided to leave the club, and he said: "I`m very happy that Steve has accepted the job, because he has a huge amount of experience and plenty of contacts. I think we will do really well now that he has come on board."
Cuggy was with Whitley Bay when they won the FA Vase for three successive seasons, but he decided to leave the club last summer in order to take the Blyth job. However, results didn't go in his favour, and he left Croft Park in December.
