Gavin Cowan

....a fourth spell from Conference North side Gainsborough Trinity.

The German-born centre half first joined Boro in 2005 on loan from Canvey Island before joining again on loan in 2007 from Greys. He then signed on a permanent basis for the 2007/08 season - Boro's first at Liberty Way.

Cowan, 31, previously played in the Football League for Shrewsbury and also has a wealth of experience in the Conference Premier with Canvey Island, Kidderminster Harriers and Grays Athletic.

He has also played for Gainsborough Trinity, Fleetwood Town, AFC Telford United and Braintree Town at Step 2 of the non-League Pyramid.

Cowan's ability and attitude made him an instant favourite on the terraces of Manor Park and Liberty Way.

Boro fans showed they had not forgotten him by giving him a great ovation at the end of the 2011/12 play-off final when he applauded the travelling Boro fans.
