Preece swooped for strikers Mark Danks and Jonathon Bathurst, as well as defender Jay Connolly. Danks, 27, began his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he played for England at under-15 and under-16 levels, before joining Bradford City for a season. Although restricted to four substitute appearances he scored his first goal in senior football in an FA Cup match against West Bromwich Albion.
He went to Halesowen Town on a month loan in March 2003 where he scored on his debut at Ilkeston Town and, after his release by Bradford, joined Hednesford Town and went on to win the FA Trophy with them in 2004.
He moved to Conference Premier outfit Forest Green Rovers in August 2004 but was soon loaned to Stafford Rangers and then Kettering Town.
After further loan spells with Bromsgrove Rovers and Cirencester Town, he joined Worcester City where Preece was the manager and hit twenty-five goals from fifty appearances.
Danks linked-up again with Preece at Northwich Victoria but re-signed for Worcester last year and then returned to Hednesford.
Bathurst joined Ashton United from Warrington Town during the 2010/11 season and has previously played for AFC Liverpool, Skelmersdale United, Southport, Vauxhall Motors and Burscough.
Central defender Connolly is a former skipper of Burscough who was forced to leave the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division club for AFC Fylde during financial troubles but later returned to the club.
He has also featured for Marine and Kendal Town.
