Defty is expected to put pen-to-paper and sign a two-year deal with the Trawlerboys within the next few days.
Defty returned to The Walks, where he previously scored ninety goals in 308 appearances, in May 2010 after a year with Corby Town.
The 30-year-old was surprisingly released by the Linnets last weekend after helping them to promotion from the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League, and Lowestoft`s director of football Craig Fleming has moved quickly to snap up the forward.
“He brings goals – he has got a proven track record and he is someone that I’ve wanted at the club for a long time,” said Fleming. “He is a very good footballer first and foremost and he will bring a goal threat and will obviously push the other strikers that we’ve got here at the club.”
