East Midlands Counties League club South Normanton Athletic have lost their star recruit.

Kenny McEvoy made a dozen appearances for South Normanton, scoring 7 goals before returning to Ireland in an attempt to resurrect his professional career.

The former Ireland under-21 international joined Vanarama National League side York City last year on a permanent basis, following several years at Tottenham Hotspur.

McEvoy had been on the books at Spurs since 2011, but failed to earn a first-team appearance.

The winger did get some game-time while on loan with Peterborough United, Colchester United, Stevenage and York.

He made fifteen appearances for the Minstermen, scoring 2 goals, before he was released in August and linked up with his local side, South Normanton.

The 22-year-old trained with League of Ireland outfit Galway United earlier this month but then linked up with their rivals and his home-town club, Waterford.
