Peacock began his career as part of Carlisle United’s youth set-up and progressed to the first-team to make seventy-six appearances between 1994 and 1997, debuting in the season the side won the third division title.
From there a £75,000 transfer saw him move to Mansfield Town in September 1997, where he stayed another two seasons playing ninety games and scoring twenty-seven goals.
Then followed a ten month spell with Manchester City for a fee of £500,000, but he made just ten appearances before moving on to Bristol City in a £600,000 transfer. Over four seasons in the West Country he played 144 games, scoring fifty-four goals.
Further moves then saw him join Sheffield Wednesday in 2004 for two seasons, and then a four season run at Swindon Town followed in which he played 126 games with the side as they yo-yoed between leagues One and Two.
In 2007 he was named the PFA’s Fans’ player of the year in League Two.
As Swindon’s fortunes began to rise again, he moved to League Two side Grimsby Town in January 2010 and stayed with the Mariners as they were relegated to the Conference Premier.
During the 2010/11 season at Grimsby he captained the side, and then after moving his family to Hampshire in 2011 joined the Hawks in June, leaving by mutual consent January after making twenty-one appearances, scoring three goals.
