The club have not have taken up the option on his contract for the new season as Neil Aspin looks forward to the new season.
The former Huddersfield Town and Bradford City goalkeeper joined the Shaymen from Oxford United last summer.
Manager Neil Aspin said: "I just felt that we needed a change in the goalkeeping department. Simon is only young and has a long career ahead of him, it's quite possible he could move to a higher division but I feel we need changes defensively and this is the first stage of the process.
"I would like to thank Simon for his contribution this year. We part on good terms and I wish him all the best for the future. He's young enough to do well in the game and he goes with Halifax's best wishes.”
