....Division South club’s search for a new chairman, stating the club needs to push on for a brighter future.
The Roms advertised the position with full details on their official website this week, and are inviting applications in writing.
For the first time in their history, the Roms will finish in the bottom half of a league table this season, and after a testing campaign, Evans admits that filling both roles has been a taken its toll.
“It is a great honour to be chairman but my place is in the dug-out – I took it on because there was no one else to commit to it at the time, but we have to search for someone to push us on now.
“It is much more than being about money – we need someone with time and fresh ideas to grow the club in every area – there are a lot of projects going on behind the scenes but we need someone who is quite savvy to spearhead those alongside the great team of people we already have.
“The current committee are great – they work tirelessly in keeping the club going and they make my job easier and a joy to do, but ultimately everyone realises we need someone to take charge.” On the pitch, Evans’ side complete their league season on Saturday with a trip to promotion-chasing Sheffield FC, with the hosts needing all three points to seal a place in the end of season play-offs.
Evans added: “Sheffield will be another tough test – we went there earlier in the season and did well in the FA Trophy, I felt we were a bit unfortunate that day. “They have a lot of quality all over the park and I’m not surprised to see them up there, but we have proved in recent weeks when playing top five sides that we can compete and test good teams.
“Last week’s draw with Leek was testament to that and our lads will give it their all again – we owe it to the competitive nature of the league to try and get a result with others vying for those play-off places.”
