The one time Coventry,Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United star made one appearance for Blue Cross last term but concentrated on coaching duties thereafter.

Davenport, still only 28, had been out of the game since August 2009 after suffering severe stab wounds in his leg which resulted in him losing 50% of the blood from his body and having to undergo emergency surgery.

He then had to go through a court case after being accused of an assault on his sister – a charge he was later cleared of.

October has seen Davenport feature in five league outings for Wootton and he has helped them to their best run of results in years, with a thirteen-point haul lifting them into the top four of the table.
