Manager Marcus Law has added four more players to his squad.
Marcus Kelly is a left-sided player who was free to look for a club after being released by former league rivals Kettering Town at the end of last season, having previously claimed the supporters’ player of the year award at the end of the 2010/11 campaign.
The former England `C` international made over 150 appearances for Rushden & Diamonds and also had a spell with Oxford United before signing for the Poppies in January 2010.
Kelly joins Adam Cunnington, Tommy Wright and Lee Hendrie in signing for the Lambs, and Law is hopeful of adding another senior player this week but negotiations are still at an early stage.
Big striker Cunnington was signed by Law for Kettering in January 2011 and then moved into the League with Dagenham & Redbridge, where he made five first-team appearances as well as having a loan spell with Alfreton Town towards the end of last season.
He came to the fore with Barwell and then Solihull Moors before joining the Poppies having had a well-travelled career prior to that with the likes of Barton Rovers, Leighton Town, Hitchin Town and Aylesbury United.
Wright is a vastly experienced 27-year-old forward who has represented England at under-19 and 20 level whilst on the books at Leicester City.
He has since played for Barnsley, Dralington, Aberdeen, Grimsby Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Luton Town and Forest Green Rovers, who released him at the end of last season.
Hendrie is, of course, the ex-England and Aston Villa star who made over 300 League appearances – mostly for Villa.
After returning from a spell in Indonesia with Bandung, the 35-year-old has played non-League football for Daventry Town, Kidderminster, Chasetown and Redditch United.
With Richard Tait being named captain last Saturday the squad is nearing completion and the current triallists will be going all out to secure the last places in the squad.
