Despite finishing nine points clear of the drop zone, Bassett have been demoted back into Division One West for failing to meet new ground regulations by the March 31st deadline.
Perennial nomads Old Woodstock Town have also been punished for failing to find their own home so Fairford and Shrivenham, who both finished in the bottom three have been saved from relegation.
The news was announced at a Hellenic League meeting but Bassett officials are set to appeal against the decision, and the case could go as far as the national FA.
The ruling has angered club officials, but they are remaining tight lipped until their case is heard.
Manager Dave Turner said: “There is an appeal pending so I wouldn’t want to prejudice that by saying anything at this stage.”
