FC United Determined to Bounce Back
Kyle Jacobs

....run of results by finishing the season on a high in front of a big crowd at Gigg Lane for Saturday's Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division clash with Northwich Victoria.

"Of course, our recent results have been disappointing, but the FC United way is not to sit around moping, so we will pick ourselves up, motivate each other and try and get back to winning ways against Northwich," Jacobs said.

Highlighting the massive effort that NPL players put in, especially as the season reaches its climax, Jacobs also reflected on the number of games that players at this level play, while still doing their day jobs. "With three games in seven days it's been busy. I've been working ten and twelve hour days at work so that takes it out of you too, but that's part and parcel of being a part-time footballer. We still have to mentally prepare for the next game and pay attention to our eating and drinking at our level too. We have a good back room staff at FC who support us, but players have to look after themselves too and be disciplined.”

The FC United captain, who recently committed to the club for another year, also reflected on that move and spoke of how much he was enjoying his football. "I was delighted to sign on for another year at FC United. I've been here two and a half seasons now and I love the club and am really enjoying my football. I look forward to training, to seeing the lads every week, and to playing in front of great supporters - I like everything about the club," he said.

"It's a great set-up at FC United, on and off the pitch. Having our own ground in the offing also gives all the players an extra incentive to sign up for another season and to do well. Hopefully we can finish the season on a high on Saturday in front of a big crowd to finish off what has already been a great year for our club."
