Fenmen Coming Together Early
Simon Mowbray

....new signings and striker Simon Mowbray has already verbally agreed to join the Fenmen.

Mowbray, a former Blackstones, Spalding United, Holbeach United and Stamford AFC player, has a good goalscoring record and could form a useful strike partnership with Chris Bacon.

Appleby, already buoyed by the fact that thirteen players have committed from last season, has also targeted a goalkeeper and midfield player.

He said: “I have made three players the best possible offers the club can make and am delighted Simon has agreed to sign.

“He is a good goalscorer who has a bit of everything. He will help take the pressure off Chris Bacon and make a good partnership.

“I am still waiting for replies from the other two players but I do not want to put them under pressure to give an answer straight away but the ball is now in their court and hopefully I will hear something in the next week.”

Appleby spent most of the last two summers chasing players to build up his squad and is keen avoid that this time around.

He continued: “It is no secret that I wanted a goalkeeper, midfielder and striker and the players I have approached fill those positions.”

Lewis Thompson and Denny Escorcio have still not committed for next season and Appleby does not expect a response until later in the summer.
