Ford is Far From Despondent
Mike Ford

....hands of much-fancied Chester FC in Blue Square Bet North.

He said: “Going a goal down very early on was not the ideal way to start the game, but once we had addressed those issues at half-time we came out and gave as good as we got.

“They have hit the post with a wonderful strike, but we have had one go across the goal at the end and had one cleared of the line.

“I think my players realise we will have to scrap for every point and we did that in the second half and looked capable of getting a result. “It is a big learning curve, but any manager will say that and we have got to learn quickly.”

Skipper Andy Ballard felt City could build on their display.

He said: “It was a good performance. I think we started a bit slow, but after we gave them an advantage we matched them for more than 90 minutes.

“We gave them a bit too much respect in the first half.

“We are all disappointed we lost the game, but we can see the positives we can take from our performance and we can take those to Gloucester City tomorrow.”
