Woodhouse has been in charge for two full seasons, but unfortunately has been unable to deliver promotion, after being in good positions going into the last quarter of the season.

"I handed my notice in three weeks ago when promotion was unattainable," he said.

The club has appointed former Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa striker Graham Fenton as his replacement.
