Fourth New Tynesider
Glenn Wilson with boss Ian Bogie

....Crawley Town defender Glenn Wilson. The 26-year-old, the longest-serving player in the Crawley squad, made 157 appearances for the Sussex club and was a regular in their Conference championship campaign. Last season he was restricted to seven games while having loan spells at Fleetwood Town and Woking, both sides winning their respective leagues. The Lewisham-born right-back or central defender originally came through the ranks at Crystal Palace during which he had a loan spell at AFC Wimbledon. Captain of the Eagles reserves side he left Selhurst Park in 2006 to spend one season in the Conference with Rushden & Diamonds. He then spent a brief loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers before he joined Crawley in 2007 and stayed at Broadwood Stadium for five years. Wilson becomes the second Londoner to sign for Gateshead this summer following in the footsteps of Wimbledon left-sided defender Chris Brush. "Gateshead are a club on the up who have improved year on year and I'm delighted to be here," said Wilson. "I know the Conference well and am looking forward to it. Gateshead had a great season last time around and were unlucky not to make the play-offs. "I loved my time at Crawley but I'm really looking forward to playing for Gateshead.

"It was very frustrating at Crawley last season. It just didn't work out for me and coming north is a fresh start." Gateshead manager Ian Bogie meanwhile is delighted to land his second Londoner of the summer. "Glenn is vastly experienced with a good pedigree and was one of the mainstays of the Crawley team that won the Conference in 2010/11. "All four players brought in during the off season have been from Football League clubs and Glenn will add to the defensive quality we have. "Wilson and Bush are both from London and that shows how far we have come that we can again attract players from the other end of the country. "Adam Bartlett, James Brown, Bush and Wilson are four good signings and the squad is looking healthy." Gateshead's players return to training on Monday when they will be put through their paces in a series of fitness tests at the International Stadium.
