.....Ashby Avenue-based Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South club.
Lincoln United donated several sets of no-longer needed team kit to the UK registered charity KitAid, in response to an appeal from the Northern Premier League.
The charity partners with clubs, teams and organisations across the country to source kits. It then passes them on to partners around the globe who use them to promote social inclusion and sports development.
KitAid Trustee Thomas Enright has recently returned from Uganda where he personally handed over the donated kit to Kampala-based club Stegota FC and to Mooni FC in the Mbale District of eastern Uganda.
In thanking all at Lincoln United, Enright said: “It was fantastic to see first-hand just what a difference donations like these make to sports development in impoverished communities.”
Stegota FC chairman Edwin Nshuti added: “We were overwhelmed by the generosity. We will pass some of the kit on to other teams in the area who have an even bigger need for team jerseys. The kits have provided a great boost for the club and I hope we can now build links between ourselves and Lincoln United.”
His words were echoed by Aaron Masaba, who organises the football team in the Mooni area of Mbale District. “We really appreciated the donation of the football kits from Lincoln United. We are now able to organise ourselves as a proper team. I am sure these shirts will help attract more of the youth to join the teams and develop themselves through football.”
Lincoln United’s director of football John Wilkinson said: “We were really pleased to support the KitAid appeal and we are delighted that the shirts we donated have already been put to such good use in Uganda.
“We will continue to support KitAid next season and if fans or local teams want to donate their own kit we would be delighted to pass it on to KitAid.”
