Furnell was a teenage prodigy at Peterborough United back in the early 1990s who went on to enjoy a long career in non-League football, including most recently a spell as player-manager at Soham Town Rangers.
He now arrives at the city’s second club as a 35-year-old who is still capable of getting more than his fair share of goals.
He highlighted that point by finding the net as Star drew 2-2 at Bourne in their latest friendly on Saturday.
Dan Clements, who has re-signed after playing for the club around his university commitments last season, hit the other goal.
Star boss Jamie Weston is also homing in on another major signing. His brother Adam has agreed to join from league rivals Deeping Rangers.
