Whitlock performed a similar role with Gardner in his previous job at Bethnal Green United.

When Gardner made the move to Mill Field last season, Whitelock stayed at Bethnal Green as a manager for two months before leaving the club at the end of the Essex Senior League season.

On the appointment of Whitelock, Gardner said: “Kirk Whitelock will be joining the club in a football advisor role teaming up with me again.

"I’m very happy to have him on board with over twenty-five years` experience in non-League football and I feel he is a very good addition to my team.”
