....Kris Gate has become the fourth new signing of the pre-season following the capture of Shane Killock, Dwayne Samuels and Dave Merris.
Gate, 27, played a total of forty-five matches, scoring eight goals last season as Gateshead recorded their highest finish in the Conference Premier since their promotion a couple of seasons ago.
A hard working central midfielder, Gate has won many plaudits with his coolness on the ball and his ability to quickly turn defence into attack, he also has an eye for goal and is not afraid to have a shot when needed.
Starting his career with local side Newcastle United, Gate made the bench for the first-team on a couple of occasions but never managed to make that vital first start with the `Toon`.
Following a trial at Grimsby Town, Gate ended up at Gateshead in 2007 and became an ever-present in their charge up the leagues.
Over the past five seasons, he has made over 220 appearances for the Heed before being released at the end of the last campaign.
Speaking about the signing, a club spokesman said: “We are very glad to be able to welcome Kris to Harrogate Town AFC. He is a fantastic player who has a wealth of experience in non-League football.
“Having played against us a fair few times, we are all well aware of the high levels of skill and play that he injects into the game. He also brings a really positive attitude to the team which is one of the qualities that the manager is determined to have this season within the club.”
