....outfit from Dagenham & Redbridge, looks to be homing in on a club record.
Gayle has so far scored thirty-seven league and cup goals and with the Herts Charity Cup and the final league game of the season against Eastwood Town to come, he has the chance to equal or surpass Tommy English’s record tally of forty goals in the 1988/89 season.
Gayle, son of former Stortford striker Devon, has scored many of his goals from the right wing - a role he switched to with the arrival of Reneil Sappleton and under the guidance of Rod Stringer.
Gayle also sits in third spot of the top goal scorers for the Conference North with a tally of twenty-six goals.
Gayle said: “I’ve already beaten my dad’s best tally of twenty goals in a season and it would be great to take the overall club record.”
