....experience of the departed Steve Towers with the Conference North experience of returning Gingerbread Emeka Nwadike.
Thirty-three-year-old Nwadike returns to the Meres twelve years after first leaving. Nwadike was a regular for the Gingerbreads in the Southern League Premier Division after the last time Grantham won a league title, making his debut in the Lincs County Cup game against Scunthorpe United in the 1998/99 season.
He was one of the few successes of that season and remained at the Meres into the next season, making sixty appearances and scoring three goals in the process. Nwadike left to join Kings’ Lynn before playing Conference North football for Alfreton Town, Worcester City and AFC Telford United.
After an injury-hit spell at Gainsborough Trinity, Nwadike spent most of last season at Mickleover Sports. “He is a great signing for us,” said Gingerbreads joint-manager Jimmy Albans. “To be honest, Macca probably fits our style of play better than Steve Towers would have done.”
