Grove Boys Banned from Sunday Football
Peter Ward

...players from playing Sunday football.

Ward said: "We have made a few house rules and, in my view, players cannot do themselves justice by playing on a Saturday, Sunday and in midweek. "I have laid the law down and the players have agreed, but if anyone steps out of line they will suffer the consequences unless it is with my consent.

"There may be times when a player who has been injured, for example, might need a game.

"I also will not tolerate dissent and players who are cautioned for that will be fined. We were bottom of the Fair Play League last season, so we have to improve."

Kidsgrove just missed out on the play-offs in April, but Ward expects the league to be tougher.

He said: "There are some quality sides like Ilkeston FC, Hucknall Town, Belper Town and last season's FA Vase finalists Coalville Town in the mix. I also think Leek Town will be a threat under Neil Baker.

"We may need another forward, but I feel we have a stronger squad than last year and the half-a-dozen new players have freshened things up."
