Gs Return to Top Spot
Darren Wheeler

....over Guildford City to go top of the table with overnight leaders Rugby Town's game at Aylesbury FC being one of three postponed.

Darren Wheeler proved to be the hero for the Gs, opening the scoring after 25 minutes and then adding a crucial second on the hour-mark that eventually proved enough for the spoils.

Third-placed Burnham lost 2-0 at Slough Town - the home side's fifth successive victory.

Despite a promising start that saw Ryan Bird and Staforde Palmer denied early on, Burnham tasted defeat with goals from Danny Burnell after 21 minutes and Ed Smith on the hour-mark securing the hosts` three points.

Biggleswade Town moved up a place to fifth after a 2-1 home win over fourth in the table Royston Town.

Lee Allinson gave the Waders the lead from the penalty spot after 32 minutes and 5 minutes later Colin Daniel doubled their lead.

Kaan Fehmi reduced the arrears 10 minutes from time, but the Crows were unable to find a leveller.

Beaconsfield SYCOB won 3-1 at Chalfont St Peter to rise to sixth in the table.

Ryan Blake opened the visitors` account after 28 minutes and added a second just before half-time.

Yashwa Romeo made it 3-0 on 69 minutes, with the Saints netting a last-gasp consolation from Sam Grayling.

Daventry Town won 3-0 at Communication Park over bottom of the table Woodford United.

Two goals from Jamie Gould in the 26th and 72nd minute sealed this victory for Daventry by overcoming a hardworking, young Woodford team, desperate to pick up their first point of the season.

The home side`s third goal came courtesy of new loan midfielder Rob Thompson-Brown in between Gould`s brace.

Ashford Town (Middx) needed a goal 5 minutes from time to win 2-1 at home against Chertsey Town.

Bairoh Conteh headed home a loose ball from close range to open the Tangerines` account, but the scorer turned villain 16 minutes from time when he conceded a penalty which Tommy McGarry levelled the scores.

But with 5 minutes remaining, Kofi Lockhart-Adams popped up with the home side`s winner.

Barton Rovers completed a comfortable 3-0 home win over Leighton Town with goals from Rhys Hoenes after 15 minutes, Aaron Lansiquot on 54 minutes and a James Dance spot-kick 16 minutes from time.

Thatcham Town suffered a disappointing defeat on a boggy Waterside Park pitch against Fleet Town.

Thatcham took an early 4th minute lead from a penalty when the Fleet goalkeeper brought down Karl Oliyide, who is on `work experience` from Reading - Tom Mudge converting the resultant spot-kick.

However, the visitors capitalised on a leaky defence, scoring four goals in 30 minutes either side of half-time through Danillo Cadette, Nick Hutchings, Gavin Miller and Craig Davis to win the game, before Liam Painter touched in Danny Langford’s cross to make the final score 2-4.
