....Football, the Blue Square Bet South club have announced that Hammers manager Sam Allardyce has said he will bring a full first-team squad to visit Meadow Park for their opening pre-season friendly on Tuesday, 10th July 2012.
The pre-season friendly was negotiated into the deal by Wood chairman Danny Hunter, that saw 18-year-old Ruddock move to the East London club on a three-year contract.
Since linking up with West Ham’s Academy, Ruddock has started ten games in their youth team as well as making numerous appearances in their senior Development Squad, playing alongside likes of John Carew, Henry Lansbury, Papa Bouba Diop and Freddie Sears amongst others.
West Ham have promised to bring a strong first-team, including any new signings, and the possibility of Wood seeing the return of Ruddock in Hammers` colours.
This will be West Ham’s first pre-season fixture of 2012 and will be a great opportunity for every Hammers fans to see their newly promoted Premiership side in action, plus their summer signings and of course to see the Championship play-off trophy they won which will be on show first hand.
Boreham Wood manager Ian Allinson said: “We already have an exciting pre-season schedule, but none will be bigger than a visit from West Ham’s first-team.
“We are very lucky Sam Allardyce recognises the hard work that’s done at non-League level and supports it. He has promised to bring his top side to us for the next two pre-seasons. However, this is one extra special as we are going to be visited by a newly-promoted Premiership outfit who will show off the Championship play-off Trophy to all their fans who were not lucky enough to get Wembley play-off final tickets.”
