Harriers Win Race for Dunkley
Cheyenne Dunkley

.....highly-rated defender Cheyenne Dunkley on a two-year contract.

The youngster, who is comfortable anywhere along the back-line but is best suited in the heart of a back-four, has benefited from one of the best footballing upbringings possible having risen through the ranks at Crewe Alexandra.

Now 20, Dunkley joined the Alex at just 14, and progressed to reserve team level at Gresty Road before joining Hednesford Town, initially on `work experience` early in 2010.

It was the first of three spells for the player at Keys Park - another short spell was followed up by a permanent move at the end of that season after being released by Crewe.

Despite still being such a young age he has continually played first-team football at a very competitive level and has featured in over forty games in each of the last two terms.

In both, his performances have helped the Pitmen achieve a place in the play-offs, even though promotion in the end-of-season lottery has so far remained just out of reach.

His consistent efforts were enough earn him a spot in the Evo-Stick Northern Premier League Premier Division Team of the Year, and to alert the attentions of npower Championship side Birmingham City, too - he spent time with them just a few months ago on trial and featured in reserve action at St Andrew's.

A host of clubs have clamoured for his signature with the season now done and dusted but Harriers have been first to make their move and Dunkley now becomes a Kidderminster player until the summer of 2014.

Due to Dunkley's age, Harriers and Hednesford will now begin the process of trying to agree a compensation fee for his services.
