.....South Midlands League Premier Division last season.
The club will play in the Premier Division for the forthcoming season after being granted a last-minute stay of execution.
On the eve of the 2012/13 campaign The Blueboys had expected to be playing SSML Division One football in the coming months.
However, at an emergency committee meeting called by the South Midlands League last week it was decided that Hatfield would keep their place in the Premier Division at the expense of Broxbourne Borough.
The East Herts outfit advised the committee that members had voted to place the club into liquidation and reform as a members club.
This meant they had to forfeit their place in the top flight, and as Hatfield Town were the only side to be ‘relegated’ at the end of the 2011/12 campaign, they will be re-instated.
Chairman Chris Maloney was understandably delighted with the announcement.
He told the Welwyn & Hatfield Time: “I got a call from the SSML chairman, who asked if we were able to play in the Premier Division, with the correct ground-grading and the like.
“I said ‘yes’, and am obviously delighted with the news - it’s about time the club had a stroke of luck.”
