Heath took over from John Anderson early last season and took Ferriby to the safety of mid-table in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division before leading his side to the Doodson Sport Cup.

Now, he plans for a real assault on promotion by bringing in players to challenge those who helped Ferriby to a creditable ninth spot in the table.

Heath told the Hill Daily Mail: "I'd want six new players but the majority here will stay. I've already spoken to the players individually here and they are all committed to the club.

"What we need to do is build a squad that puts pressure on everyone. There will be players coming in there is no doubt about that.

"We need a squad to make the play-offs and go further."

Ferriby's squad was stretched at times last season, particularly during their successful cup run.

And Heath is well aware that an injury crisis may strike at any time, jeopardising his team's chances.

He added: "I'd like seventeen players with experience from our league or better.

"Whether we can do that with our finances is another thing.

"I will have to use the contacts I have to do what I can do."

Heath admits the last thing he wants is his regulars to be playing in the comfort zone next season.

He said: "You don't want players who feel they have got comfortable where they are.

"If they play for me, they will always have pressure on them."
