Hyde Departs Redditch
Graham Hyde

....seeing manager Graham Hyde resign this week after leading the Reds to Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division safety.

The former Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, who only became sole manager at the Valley Stadium in November following the resignation of Mark Fenemore after the pair had replaced Martin Sockett in September, has called time on his spell in charge.

Hyde, who had put together a settled and rapidly improving side in the second half of the season, said his departure had been on very good terms and he had nothing but praise for the club, but felt the time was right to move on.

"I have enjoyed every minute of my time at Redditch both as first-team coach and manager and have had excellent support from the chairman and everybody else during my time here.

"The players, many of them youngsters and some new to playing at this level, have been a credit to the club and in the second half of the season have given the fans some excellent football to watch.

"However, it is fair to say that, when the budget plans for next season were discussed, I felt that meant I had taken the team as far as I could and that means it's time to move on.

"This is no criticism of anybody, it's a personal decision and that's all there is to say. I am proud of how the team performed this season and I leave on good terms."

Swan, meanwhile, preferred to look to the future instead of the past and believes that, with a wise choice of new manager, United have every reason to look forward to the 2012/13 campaign.

"It was obviously disappointing to hear of Graham's decision but I respect his views and as a club we thank him for his excellent work on and off the field this season.

"What is done is done though, and we need to look forward to making the right decision in terms of appointing a new manager and hopefully as soon as possible because there is a nucleus of a good team here and the sooner we can progress with this matter the better."

Swan confirmed Hyde's assistant Curly O'Callaghan would be considered for the managerial position should he apply.
