Dulwich Hamlet are in the money and it is all thanks to a player the club sold over a year ago.
The Bostik Premier club allowed Ethan Pinnock to move to Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2016 and he shone in the Vanarama National League.
Like Hamlet always do when they let a player leave for the pro game, they think about the future and request a sell on fee to be inserted in any deal.
That has certainly come good for the south east London club following the news on Friday that Pinnock, 24, has been picked up by Championship club Barnsley.
That’s where it gets interesting from a Dulwich point of view.
There is talk that Pinnock has joined the Tykes for a fee of over a million pounds. So that means Hamlet could be welcoming a cheque with five 0’s at the end!
A six figure sum depends on a number of factors including the size of the sell Dulwich agreed, and the exact transfer fee which has been announced as undisclosed.
Rose rates Pinnock highly and said: “I always knew he could go far in the game. His attitude is fantastic.”
The manager told us last week that his squad is nearly complete and believes keeping faith with the squad which went so close last season to promotion is beneficial.
