Maldon & Tiptree moved up a place to fifth in the Bostik League North table on Tuesday night after a hard-fought 3-2 win at Theobalds Lane against battling bottom-markers Cheshunt.

The Jammers took an early 4th minute lead through Jimmy Shepherd, only for Joe Ellul`s own goal to bring the Ambers back on level terms on 27 minutes.

The visitors went into the break in front though after Olu Akinsanya`s 39th minute effort.

Ryan Clampin made it 3-1 with 65 minutes gone on the clock, but Cheshunt made it an interesting last 7 minutes or so when sub Kyle Roberts reduced the arrears to just one.

Cheshunt still only trail second-bottom Romford by a single point after Boro suffered a heartbreaking defeat at mid-table Hertford Town.

It was the 3rd minute of stoppage time at the end of the game at Hertingfordbury Park when a cross by Brett O’Connor was met by Phil Lowen to beat new Romford `keeper Rob Budd.

The other game of the evening saw Mildenhall Town move level on points with visiting Witham Town and into fourteenth spot after a 2-0 win at Recreation Way.

Tom Debenham gave Hall an early 9th minute lead that Jake Chambers-Shaw doubled after 33 minutes.
