Town finished thirteenth last season and open their Toolstation Western League Division One campaign at Elmore today before entertaining Warminster Town – back in the division after a decade away – at Crown Field on Tuesday night.

Boss Steve Cains has boosted his striking options with the additions of Wayne Pearce from Almondsbury and Chris Lewis from Paulton Rovers.

Town defeated Chippenham Town in pre-season and also drew with Wells City and lost to near neighbours Bitton.

"We're very pleased so far, the quality of the side has been good and we are definitely stronger than we were last year," said Kay.

"The young players are a year older, the 17s are now 18 the 19s are now 20, so it's looking good.

"We will be aiming for the top four or top five, but you never know. You can't win a league by Christmas but you can certainly lose it!

"It will be a slow journey to Elmore for the first game. They started sharply last year, but I would like to think we can get the three points."
