.....an “encouraging” first session as the Terras returned for pre-season training.

More than thirty players, old and new, turned out at Redlands as preparations got underway for the upcoming campaign.

King said: “It was a good session and the boys worked hard.

“We had over thirty boys training in total and it was encouraging compared to this stage last year.

“We had some new faces but we also had quite a few of the boys from last season, including the likes of Tom Manley, Sam Poole, Ashley Wells, Scott Dixon, Alex Jeannin, Craig Duff, Stephen Reed, Mark Ford and Jamie Beasley. “We had a good blow-out but we didn’t go too hard as we want to ease our way in. But things are already looking a lot more positive this year.”

Meanwhile, King also revealed he has yet to hear back from striker Warren Byerley over his proposed move to Kettering Town, which according to the Poppies’ acting chairman George Rolls is set to be completed this Saturday.

King added: “I’ve not heard anything from Warren but we are working hard to get someone else in.

“If I can get the lads I want, it will be very encouraging indeed.”
