Laird Pleased With Trio
Craig Laird

......of Blue Square Bet South club Weston-super-Mare spoke of his delight of capturing his three new signings by exclaiming that he is “very pleased” with his business so far.

Laird said: “We’re very pleased to have all three, and we’ve wanted to sign them all for a while.

“We’ve been tracking them all since they were released from their professional clubs for the past two years, and we’ve tried signing Ross Stearn before, and now we’re hopeful that they take their chance of playing at a higher level and prove their worth.

“All three will add strength and depth to the squad. Chas Hemmings is a strong lad that can play in a number of positions, whilst Ashley Kington and Ross Stearn will strengthen our midfield areas.

“We’re hopeful of adding another two or three more, and we’re looking into signing a defender, midfielder and striker. Like I say, we have been tracking a large number of young players for the past two years and we like to think we have good knowledge of all the players out there available to us.”

Kane Ingram and Sahr Kabba have been reportedly attracting attention and Laird explained that interest in Ingram has cooled, but Kabba looks set for a move to the Conference Premier.

He said: “We don’t want to lose either player. Kane is a good lad, and we had an inquiry but nothing more, he’s a great player to have around and we hope he stays.

“Obviously, we certainly don’t want to lose Sahr, but he’s got a great opportunity and we don’t want to stand in his way of enhancing his career.”
