Laws Pounces for Leabon
Kieran Leabon

.....Division One North campaign with the signing of Bury Town’s Kieran Leabon.

The 23-year-old, who joined Richard Wilkins’ side in the 2009/10 season, becomes the Marketmen’s third capture of the close season, joining up with fellow former Blue Craig Nurse and AFC Sudbury centre back Nathan Clarke.

The versatile midfielder, who can also operate in a more advanced role, found his game time diminished last season but still made thirty-two starts for the Ram Meadow outfit as well as a further twelve from the substitutes bench scoring ten goals in the process.

Laws, who is delighted with his latest addition, spoke of Leabon’s attributes and also hoped he and his fellow new signings, will have a major impact next season.

“I am delighted to announce that we have added Kieran Leabon to the squad,” he said.

“He is a very versatile player and after losing Scott Chaplin and Deakin Napier we were looking for more options out wide.

“Kieran gives us that extra width that I want to play with this season but he can also operate as a striker so he gives that option as well.

“He has lots of power and pace which has been my priority to bring in and he has scored goals at this level before so we are delighted to sign him.

“As soon as we knew he was available I wanted to bring him here and he has definitely been signed to play in the starting line-up for sure.

“That goes for all three of the players I have signed so far and we are certainly hoping they can make an impact.

“He had offers from other clubs and had choices to make but he opted for us and that is obviously pleasing.

“The biggest thing for me is that he wants to succeed and is hungry to do that, he knows this level and he will bring a lot to the team.”

Meanwhile Laws is waiting to hear back from a number of his squad on whether they will stay with the club but one player who has agreed to extend his stay at Bloomfields is full-back Jack Wilkinson.

Laws paid tribute to the youngster who he believes will be one of his key players in the coming campaign.

“Jack Wilkinson has also signed a new contract and we are delighted with that,” he added.

“He has a great attitude and has always been willing to go out and gain experience on loan and it has gained massively from that.

“He will be a permanent fixture in my 16 next season and will hopefully be one of our key players.”
